This city is afraid of me...

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 8, 2009, 7:05 PM

I have seen its true face...

"Heard a joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says "But, doctor...I am Pagliacci." Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains."

I saw the Midnight Premiere of Watchmen Thursday, and it was completely totally awesome. One of the only comic movies I've seen that has actually lived up to the original story for me. It was pretty true to the graphic novel, and I looved the cast. I'm a huge comic book nerd, so I was really happy when I discovered that it wasn't sugared up and ruined for Hollywood. I am already eagerly awaiting the DVD release, and I plan on having a viewing party. IMMA BAKE WATCHMEN COOKIES TOO. haha. But seriously, go see it. Or don't, if you're not into comics. lol.

AUDITIONS AND DANCING TIEMS

I had an audition Saturday morning for a performing/dance troupe that our cast choreographer is putting together. I got to learn this aaaawesome dance that he choreographed to 'Circus' by Britney Spears. Now, I took hip hop for a short time, but my area of expertise has always been Jazz and Ballet. So I was slightly nervous when I first got there, and I think it showed through a little bit in my attitude, which I wish it didn't. Because I am not a complainer or bad attitude kind of person. I'm a suck it up and do it kind of person. Anyway, it was pretty difficult, very fast. But I started getting it, and used break times to work on it instead of chatting with everyone. And it payed off, because I ended up being the only person to not mess it up during the private auditions. And I made it. So I'm happy. :)
Now I get to start working on 'The Cell Block Tango' from Chicago that we're putting on next month. I'm hoping to portray Velma Kelly, as she's the character I played in the full production last year. Cross your fingers for me.

I am in need of suggestions for journal features, so if you see something you think is beautiful, pop me a note

Q: Are you a comic book/graphic novel fan? If so, what is your favorite series? Fave superhero? Mine is Watchmen, obviously. Batman is a close second.

I found Sarah's gallery while browsing for fairies one day, and fell for her beautiful, whimsical artwork immediately. Each of her pieces brings something magical, and I love her use of color. Check her out.

What's-her-name was a lot hotter than she was in the previews. For REAL.
I mean, one of my roommates was totally in love with her from the trailer because she kinda looks like his girlfriend (but way hotter :giggle:) but I just wasn't seeing it. For some reason in the movie, though, I was like shiiiiiii....

Anyway, I thought the movie was pretty good. Way more graphically violent than I expected, too. :o

Congrats on the audition!

I kind of liked the novel's ending better, actually. Or rather not the ending, since it's essentially the same, but the execution of it. Alas, not all can be satisfied ;)

I did too, I definitely prefer the novel, but as far as not screwing up the movie, I give them a thumbs up. I really loved Rorschach. And Dr. Manhattan.
